Pakistan Defence Day: the day which holds the utmost importance in our lives. Every year, we Pakistanis celebrate this day in order to pay tribute to our Ghazi’s and Shuhda’s who courageously defeat our motherland’s enemy. They defended the borders of Pakistan and saved the people and the country with their exceptional bravery. Also known as Youm-e-Difa, the day of 6th September marks the public holiday to celebrate in the memory of successful defence of Pakistan against India. On Thursday 6th September 2018, Pakistan will mark the 53rd anniversary of 1965 war with India to pay tributes to our heroes.
History of 6th September 1965
6th September 1965 or you can call Defence day is one of the most important and golden events in Pakistan’s history. The day when the Indian army launched the forces crossed the Pakistani borders without any sign or warning or any formal declaration of War, but our military and people stood against India for the defense of Pakistan. This democratic act of India, the never-ending dispute of Kashmir, the border disputes and the communal tensions between both the countries led to the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965. The Pakistani army fought with compassion, courage, and love but the war claimed victory from both the sides after it ended with the intervention of the United States and the Soviet Union. This 1965 war continued for 17 days and caused many casualties on both sides.
The Spirit of Youm-e-Difa
The amazing fact is that Pakistan was able to defend its borders from the enemies and reclaim the country as independent and one of the most powerful one in the whole world. Our army were strong enough to not let the enemies win and showed everyone the power of their uniforms. But sadly, that was the crucial time too because many soldiers sacrificed their lives for their nation and country. The spirit of 6th September 1965 will live in our hearts and in our national history. It’s a day to remember forever for our heroic men and women who made our present and future better. We celebrate this day with traditional zeal across the country following the special prayers for the martyrs and to pay the tribute to thousands of people killed during the war.
